"Artist songwriter musician Brad Martin made the move to Nashville in 1994 with the talent, drive and determination to go the long haul in the country music industry. Hailing from a small town in South Central, Ohio that was best known for Country Music legend Johnny Paycheck, Martin has certainly contributed to putting his town on the map. While Brad is currently half of Curb Records country music duo Martin Ramey, his success story carries a history that has brought him to this exciting new chapter in his life.
Upon his arrival in Nashville, Brad started playing in local honkytonks around town. His talent was quickly noticed and he signed a co-publishing deal with Blue Tattoo Music after being in town for just 6 short months. It wasn’t long before Brad had built quite a songwriting catalog, co-writing with numerous established songwriters. In 1995, Brad met fellow talented singer songwriter John Ramey who unknowingly would later become his duet partner. Brad and John developed a close friendship and co-writing relationship.
In 1998, Brad signed another exclusive publishing deal with Curb Music. After several years of honing his songwriting skills, Brad caught the attention of Sony Epic Executives. As a result, he landed his first recording deal in January of 2000. Having a vast variety of tunes, Brad penned 8 of his 10 on his 2002 debut album “Wings Of A Honky Tonk Angel.” Interestingly, Brad and John Ramey co-wrote 4 of the songs for his debut album. Brad’s album with Epic officially launched in 2002, earning him his first hit as a solo artist entitled “Before I Knew Better.” Receiving a high spot on the charts and very favorable airplay, “Before I Knew Better” became one of country radio’s most played songs of 2002.
Touring for several years on the success of his debut album, Brad then exited Epic records to focus back on songwriting. Within Brad’s large songwriting collection he had penned a song called “Boys Like Us.” This catchy tune respectively landed on country band Heartland’s “I Loved Her First” album. Another interesting turning point occurred in Brad’s career when he approached John Ramey in mid 2006 about writing another solo album. Brad came to find out that he and John were heading in the same musical direction. The pair wrote several songs together, one of which was entitled “Twisted.” Brad asked John what he thought about doing a duo album together. Brad said, “When the two of us began singing together it was truly a magical blend that once 4 or 5 songs were completed, I took the project over to Doug Johnson Senior VP of A & R at Curb Records.” Johnson was beyond excited about the project and Brad and John found themselves on Curb’s roster, forming the duo “Martin Ramey” combining their last names.
Now Brad and John have co-written and recorded their first album and “Twisted” which is their first hit single together is currently playing on country radio. Most recently, Brad and John have been on a radio tour crisscrossing the United States promoting their hit single. Sometimes visiting 7 cities a week, Martin Ramey has visited radio stations all over America introducing “Twisted” to excited listeners everywhere. One of Martin Ramey’s most recent memorable performances is when they sang the national anthem for Gillett’s Prelude to the Dream race.
While music of course requires much of Brad’s time, he enjoys relaxing, spending time with his dog Percy (whom he adopted from the Humane Society) and visiting with his family and friends whenever he can. He also enjoys boating, camping, golfing and working out. Brad is as great of a guy off stage as he is on stage always making friends and fans everywhere he goes.
With creative lyrics and addictive melodies, Martin Ramey can be described as country music with a twist."
